Frequently Asked Questions

  • We use two-factor authentication to protect the privacy of all of our users. As part of the two-factor process we will send an SMS text with a verification code to your mobile phone. This verifies your identity. We only use text messages to send verification codes.

  • It is rare that the SMS cell phone code is not immediately delivered to your mobile phone. 1. Check your cell phone connection. 2. Confirm that you entered your cell phone number correctly, 3. Confirm that your data plan allows SMS texts (often T-mobile users have to manually set their preferences to accept these codes.) If you still do not receive your code, please email us at [email protected] from the email on your account and tell us your browser, cell phone carrier and geographic location. We will immediately begin to troubleshoot.

  • The email code will be sent from “[email protected].” Search your email, spam and junk folders. Confirm the email address was typed correctly. If you still cannot locate the email code, please email us at [email protected] from the email on your account, and we will immediately begin to troubleshoot.

  • The email invitation and sign-up link will be sent from “[email protected].” Search your email, spam and junk folders.

The email link is only for convenience, so if you do not receive it, simply sign-up as a professional or sign-up as a spouse. It is very important to sign-up for the correct role and to sign-up with the email that was used to invite you. You can always change the email associated with your account after you sign-up. (Or ask the person who invited you to re-issue the email invitation with the correct email.)

Overview

dtour.life accommodates many flexible family law team workflows. Below are just three examples to illustrate a range.

Traditional Workflow

Each family law professional securely shares case data with their client and their office staff/associates. Or, the client might input all of their data and invite their professional(s).

Mediation Workflow

For the transparent Mediation workflow, both clients securely share all data with the mediator and any other professional invited to review, such as consulting attorneys and financial experts. For less transparent processes, the mediator might create separate cases for each client.

Collaborative Workflow

A single case is created and all members of the Collaborative team have access to the case data for complete transparency.

  • We provide a “Free” plan that allows you, and anyone you choose to invite, to have access to a free case for as long as you like.

  • After you have created your free case and you click to create your 2nd case, you will be asked to upgrade to the paid plan. Then, as you create cases that exceed each tier, you will be asked to upgrade to the next level. The approximate cost per case/per month ranges from $5.00 - $7.80.

All archived cases will be removed from your case-load and billing will be prorated based on the billing cycle.

Each plan includes complimentary access for your clients, internal staff and any outside experts you invite.

  • We will maintain a record of all data entered and make it available to you for archival needs and/or should you return to subscribe.

  • You may cancel your subscription any time and billing for subsequent months will be suspended.

  • dtour.life is designed to work independently for clients or professionals.

For professionals it provides a superior user experience and digital environment for managing all up-to-date case data, documents and to easily generate reports. It is also a wonderfully visual tool for remote or in-person meetings to visually describe the financial facts.

It is a valuable workflow tool for every family law office as well as outside consultants and is not dependent on client collaboration.

  • When you hire a lawyer or any family law professional, they will give you a very long list of the documents and information they need; it is a full-time job to manage the process, not to mention very expensive. For the first time, there is now a comprehensive digital platform that helps you to collect and organize all of the data your lawyer will need. They will ask for it over and over again and now you will have it easily editable and accessible. Having the information at your fingertips will also help you manage all of the issues post-divorce.

dtour.life also has a highly refined user experience design that presents the financial data in an intelligible manner making it easier to understand and to participate in a settlement process during a very difficult time.

Once the data is input and uploaded, you can share all of it digitally by simply inviting each professional to the case on the Case Settings page (this will save you lots of money) or you can export the reports to pdfs to email or print.

  • Every divorce lawyer has a unique way of working and processes they use. Tech-savvy lawyers understand that when their clients have digital tools, it helps them to better organize the information that is needed for the case and that it can save a lot of time and money that is wasted managing paperwork.

However, we also know that many lawyers are new to technology and do not use dtour.life. That is why we designed it to work independently for spouses. dtour.life will guide and support you to better understand your assets and debts, income and expenses, personal property, case facts, and more. So, when the professional hands you the list of information and documents they need, you now have digital access to easily edit, update, and manage everything in one place throughout the entire process. We know how difficult divorce is, and particularly for working families, the time and frustration to manage all of the documentation is extreme. Our digital dashboard will make it far easier to manage all of it.

All you have to do is invite your professional to digitally collaborate so they can simply access the data and reports. Or, you can export it to pdfs to email. dtour.life is designed to be flexible to just assist the spouse, just assist the lawyer, or be the digital infrastructure for the entire team.

  • The tremendous value of having access to an organized digital platform upon conclusion of your case is threefold: First, after a case is completed there is a lot of work to do and the active and editable data and document repository empowers each spouse to have access to it without asking a lawyer to access his/her storage. Second, ongoing access makes it far easier to then address the post-divorce issues such as completing the tasks required as part of the final settlement, any new financial events such as a new mortgage, the all-important estate planning, etc. And lastly even though the settlement should be the end of it, there are often reasons to review the terms, modifications to support, the parenting plan, etc., and ongoing access to your information will make this phase of the process infinitely easier and more efficient.

  • No. dtour.life is designed to help every individual in the process– spouses and divorce professionals both independently and/or together.

If spouses are amicable, then dtour.life is a great tool to assist with joint digital management of data, reports and uploaded documentation. This is especially true in an amicably mediated or Collaborative case.

If only one spouse chooses to use it or if both spouses choose to use the platform separately and privately, then each spouse will have their own account and manage their part of the process with efficient technology to save time and money with their professionals.

  • After your free trial expires, access to your account will be limited to the ability to add payment information. Any data you entered previously will be available to you once you subscribe.

  • When you break it down, the divorce transaction is about money and children. The dtour.life platform provides a digital dashboard, guidance and the financial, parenting and document tools you need to manage what can often be an inefficient, protracted and expensive process.

Throughout the process there will be requests for updated data and new supporting documentation. dtour.life provides a central location where you can easily update and share it with your team. No more emails with attached pdfs to sift through.

The platform uses the data to create an easy to understand Net Worth and Income and Expense reports that you and your legal professional will need to make important decisions about division of property and support.

The Spending Plan tool allows you to develop forward-looking budgets so you can make smart lifestyle decisions.

Access to the data post-divorce will be important for ongoing settlement compliance, children’s expense management, estate planning tasks and more.

The cost per month is equal to two to six minutes of a lawyer or other family law professional's time.
